Annual Meeting of NPO "Valid Utilization of Mt. Fuji Weather Station" was held at Koshiba Hall, the University of Tokyo, where 25 presentations on the results of 2011 summer campaign was
reported. The attendance was 108. (Jan. 29)
Dr. N. Kaneyasu (Director) joined the exchange meeting of the Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Environment Fund, held at Sendai. (Feb. 2)
On May 13, the 7th General Meeting of NPO "Valid Utilization of Mt. Fuji Weather Station" was had at the Tokyo University of Science, Tokyo, where the implementation plan and a budget bill of 2012 were approved.(May 13)
A new book was published “Survival of Mt. Fuji Weather Station,2005-2011”(ed. Yukiko Dokiya and Kazuya Sasaki (Directors) was published on July 8, 2012 from Seizando, Tokyo Japan, having 48 authors who have utilized the station during 2005 to 2011, supported financially by Watanabe Memorial Foundation for Advancement of Technology. It was read by many readers of universities and government institutes causing to be reprinted on Sept. 18, 2012. (June 18)
Dr. Shiro Hatakeyama (Director in chief) received the Hitachi environment foundation excellence prize in 2012 for the technology development practice activity.
NPO participated in social media Facebook in order to convey the activity of Summer Campaign 2012.
Gotemba Base was set up at the same apartment as 2011 in Gotemba for the support of Summer Campaign 2012. (June 1)
Dr. Masayoshi Yamamoto and his student Yuho Sasago have received an academic prize from the Japanese Society of Mountain Medicine on their work at Mt. Fuji weather station. (June 18)
A meeting on the future utilization of Mt. Fuji Weather Station was had at JMA in order to discuss the third public call for participants from 2013. (July 6)
Prof. H. Okochi (Director) and his colleagues and students stated a special campaign on aerosol, gas and precipitation/ fog at the summit and Tarobo up to Aug 24, applying newly developed
instruments. (July 14)
Meteorological observation started setting the instruments at the third building at the summit by Prof. O. Nagafuchi (July 14) followed by the setting of instrument measure the ground electricity by Mr. M. Yasumoto (July 15), Ozone and CO measurement by Prof, S. Kato (July 17), live camera (July 20) and the improvement of CO2 measurement by Dr. H. Mukai (July 24-26)
Mr. Y. Furuta made tested his new science teaching tools for junior high and high school students. (Aug. 4)
Sudden power failure of 12 hours at 21:43 of August 15, the reason of which was later found to be by the mice attack of electric cable of No. 1 cubicle at Tarobo. (Aug. 15-16)
Prof. Miura (Director, Secretary General) and his colleagues had an intensive observation campaign on atmospheric physics and chemistry using a GPS radio sonde at Tarobo. (Aug. 17-20)
Dr. A. Ikeda and his colleagues collected the micro-meteorological observation system buried underground two years before near the summit. (Aug. 23-27)
Mr. R. Sakai of Tokyo Gakugei University (one of the students of Prof. M. Kamogawa, Director) received a student presentation prize at the 86th Research Meeting of the Society of Atmospheric
Electricity of Japan. (Sept. 12)
On Sept. 3, the commercial electricity was cut and the station was locked for the next year. Gotemba Base was closed on Sept. 6.
A special session on Mt. Fuji Observation was had at the 38th symposium of Research Group of Acid Rain Problem of the Chemical Society of Japan. (Nov. 11)
Prof. K. Miura made a speech on his research at Mt. Fuji at the AGU meeting at San Francisco. (Dec. 3-7)
A discussion meeting on the data obtained at Mt. Fuji during the Summer Campaign 2012 was had at Tokyo University of Science. (Dec. 12)
